The press publishes research-based books and standalone research publications. Each publication follows the review process appropriate to its purpose, evidence, and intended audience.

Scholarly publications

This route covers research monographs, edited scholarly volumes, scholarly translations, critical and source editions, and substantial scholarly reference works. Independent external specialists assess these works under the press’s peer-review policy before a final publishing decision.

Editorial route: Externally peer reviewed

Research and institutional publications

This route covers standalone research reports, technical research reports, evidence-based handbooks, conference proceedings prepared as standalone publications, and institutional research studies. The editorial team assesses these works, checks verifiable material, and seeks specialist input appropriate to the subject.

Editorial route: Editorially reviewed

Translations

Translation is a publishing programme, not a separate standard of quality. A translated work follows the editorial route appropriate to its publication type. Every translation is produced by a named human translator from the source text and checked by a second qualified human reader.

Standalone and continuing publications

A work that continues indefinitely under the same title is a serial, and carries an ISSN rather than an ISBN. The press assigns whichever identifier the publication calls for.
