CIMEGS Publishing is the scholarly and research press of the Canadian Institute for Middle East and Gulf Studies, a Canadian not-for-profit research institute.
Our purpose
The press publishes rigorous, accessible research on the Middle East, the Gulf, North Africa, Canada, and the relationships connecting these regions to the wider world.
What we publish
We publish original work in English and Arabic and selected translations between the two languages. Our list includes monographs, edited volumes, research reports, reference works, conference proceedings, critical or documentary editions, and scholarly translations. Fields include society, economy, culture, heritage, education, technology, environment, media, and the arts.
Editorial routes
Scholarly works undergo documented external peer review. Research and institutional publications follow documented editorial review, fact checking, and specialist assessment appropriate to the work. Each publication states its route.
Human authorship, rights, and responsibility
The text and the artwork of a CIMEGS book are the work of people, and every translation is made by a named human translator. We publish only work whose rights are settled, and we name every author, editor, and translator.
